UGC Grant for Kerala University

The University of Kerala is richer by Rs.60 lakh these days. This amount - Rs. 60,05, 000 to be precise - has been sanctioned by the University Grants Commission as a one-time `block grant' to be utilized before the end of this financial year.
According to the letter written by the UGC to the university authorities, the grant money can be used for purchasing books and journals, repairing and renovating buildings that are more than 25 years old, modernization/computerization of administrative and finance wing offices of the university, purchase of teaching aids and purchase of furniture and fixtures. According to sources in the university, a bulk of this amount may be used for renovation work.
